Our schedule

day 1 afternoon/evening

Meet-Up | Shooting Prep | On-Location

We'll begin with introductions, a workshop overview, and a review of camera settings, gear, and techniques for photographing the Eastern Sierra. From there, we'll head into the field for our first session, exploring locations around the June Lake Loop or Mammoth Lakes while photographing colorful aspen groves, mountain scenery, and reflections as afternoon light transitions through golden hour and sunset.

day 2 morning

On-Location

We'll meet before sunrise and travel to a carefully selected location based on fall color, weather, and the best available light. Our morning session may take us to Mono Lake, June Lake Loop, or the Mammoth Lakes area, where we'll focus on composition, exposure, reflections, and working with changing light to capture the distinctive character of the Eastern Sierra.

day 2 mid-Day

Editing | Image Review | Discussion

After our morning shoot, we'll take a break from the field for image review and post-processing instruction. We'll discuss image selection, composition, exposure, color, and creative choices, with particular attention to editing fall foliage and high-contrast mountain landscapes while maintaining natural color and detail. This is also an opportunity for individual feedback, questions, and discussion before returning to the field.

day 2 afternoon/evening

On-Location

We'll return to the field for an extended afternoon and evening session, following the best available conditions and fall color. Depending on weather and light, we'll photograph glowing aspen groves, mountain lakes, rugged Sierra peaks, or the unique landscape of Mono Lake through golden hour, sunset, and blue hour. Emphasis will be placed on refining compositions and responding creatively to changing conditions.

day 3 morning/Wrap-Up

On-Location

Our final session begins before sunrise at another carefully selected Eastern Sierra location. We'll use the morning light to explore new compositions and reinforce techniques covered throughout the workshop, with individualized guidance in the field. Following the shoot, we'll wrap up with final questions, discussion, and recommendations for continuing to develop your landscape photography skills.
